Overview In this Senior Estimator role, you will lead the planning and development of detailed cost estimates for wet pipeline projects, shaping bids for major infrastructure work. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, analyze drawings and specs, and ensure reliable estimates that align with company goals. The position offers influence over project economics and bid strategy within a respected, safety driven contractor. You'll work closely with clients and internal teams to drive winning, cost-aware proposals.
Responsibilities- Prepare detailed cost estimates for wet pipeline projects (labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, indirect costs)
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits; document RFQ/pre-bid information
- Review drawings, specs, and soils reports to define scope
- Communicate estimate assumptions, resources, and cost breakdowns
- Maintain open communication with internal teams and clients during estimating
- Apply costing methodologies and historical data for consistent estimates
- Lead or participate in bid reviews to ensure alignment with objectives
- Mentor junior estimators and administrative staff
- Collaborate with project teams post-award for takeoffs, change orders, and cost forecasting
- Coordinate bid submissions and subcontractor proposals
- Provide departmental leadership support as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned by senior leadership
Key requirements- 10+ years of experience in project cost estimating or project management in wet pipeline
- Strong understanding of civil drawings, water district standards, soils reports, and specifications
- Proficiency in plan takeoffs using Planswift, OST, Bluebeam, or similar software
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in fast-paced environments
