Overview In this role, you will help shape purchasing strategies within Magna's Global Purchasing Organization for the Mechatronics, Mirrors & Lighting group. You'll work with cross-functional teams to source, negotiate, and manage suppliers, pursuing cost savings and risk mitigation across the supply base. You will lead strategic supplier initiatives and long-term agreements to support automotive programs and regional/global requirements. This position offers exposure to a global, tech-driven environment focused on innovative vehicle technologies and responsible supply chain practices.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement commodity strategies in assigned categories in alignment with global objectives
- Manage RFQs and supplier evaluations to maximize value and adherence to strategy
- Lead supplier negotiations and long-term agreements; manage supplier relationships and contract terms
- Coordinate cross-functional teams (Program Management, Engineering, Production Controls, Logistics, Supplier Quality) to support commodity goals
- Identify and drive cost savings initiatives and risk mitigation plans; optimize total cost of ownership
- Monitor market conditions and ensure compliance with internal policies and environmental/quality standards
- Communicate critical issues to senior management and facilitate disciplined contract management
Key requirements- Bachelor in manufacturing, engineering, or related discipline
- 3-5 years in Purchasing, preferably in automotive/manufacturing
- Experience with electronics (PCB assemblies/components) as a commodity
- Ability to travel 20% domestically and internationally
- Familiarity with IATF16949 and ISO14001 requirements
- Proven success with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers in a competitive automotive market
- Experience in strategic planning, manufacturing, supply chain, and supplier quality
