Overview In this role, you lead Charles River's federal policy agenda, shaping strategies that advance the company's drug development objectives before policymakers. You will build strong relationships with Congress, federal agencies, and external partners to advocate for favorable regulatory and legislative outcomes. Responsibilities- Design and execute federal government strategies aligned with organizational goals
- Lead advocacy with congressional staff, officials, and regulators on relevant issues
- Direct third-party lobbying and grassroots education efforts
- Serve as chief policy expert for the board and support leadership in board education
- Oversee data collection, research and evaluation of policy outcomes
- Develop and manage the public policy department budget and ensure regulatory compliance
Key requirements- Master's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Public Administration, Law or related field
- 10+ years of progressive public policy or government relations experience
- Experience in a publicly-traded company preferred
- 5+ years in a senior leadership role or Board interaction
- Deep understanding of local, state and federal legislative/regulatory processes
- Proven coalition-building and policy-influence track record
- Excellent written communications for briefs, testimonies and board reports
- Strong media literacy and experience as an official organizational spokesperson
