Overview In this role you lead McCarthy's MEP efforts from pursuit through construction, serving as a key point of contact for owners, design teams, and trade partners during preconstruction and beyond. You drive VDC coordination, cost analysis, and bid strategies while shaping risk management and value options. You help grow the MEP team and represent McCarthy in industry settings. This role combines technical leadership with cross-functional collaboration to deliver coordinated, cost-effective MEP solutions on complex projects.

Responsibilities- Coordinate preconstruction services across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, low voltage, and fire suppression scopes
- Lead or assist VDC coordination during preconstruction
- Perform cost analysis, manage trade takeoffs, and internal pricing
- Develop subcontractor bidding strategy and oversee bid solicitation and evaluation
- Oversee Exhibit 1 development for MEP subcontractors
- Assist in development and training of future MEP staff
- Participate in interview prep for negotiated bids
- Coordinate bid efforts, process RFIs, and interface with bidding community
- Review project documents to identify and address risk
- Create scope-gap matrices for MEP coordination
- Evaluate project documents for cost-effectiveness and propose value alternatives
- Participate in constructability and quality reviews
- Manage and define risks for the executive team
- Prepare clarifications and assumptions for RFPs
- Compare scope, quantities, and cost data across projects
- Prepare management presentations and an estimate basis
- Support final submissions with Owner and A/E teams for related scopes
- Support ongoing regional projects related to MEP scopes
- Build relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and internal clients
- Support Business Development in maintaining client relationships
- Represent McCarthy at industry events and maintain professional relationships
Key requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Engineering
- 10+ years of experience with an MEP focus
- In-depth knowledge of construction principles and practices
- Experience managing large-scale preconstruction efforts
- Experience with subcontracts, subcontractors, and vendors
- Proven ability to lead teams and maintain internal/external partnerships
- Ability to manage multiple estimating teams concurrently
- Self-starter, highly motivated
- Excellent follow-up and issue resolution
