Overview In this role you will drive excellence across aerospace manufacturing processes by overseeing Process Owners and ensuring AS9100/NADCAP compliance. You will define control strategies, monitor KPIs, and advance data-driven improvements, including SPC and real-time process monitoring. You will lead capex initiatives and Lean Six Sigma projects, helping transition to advanced manufacturing methods while reducing scrap and cost. Responsibilities- Lead and mentor Process Owners for specific manufacturing processes in investment casting (wax, shell, casting, heat treat, core removal, braze, post cast processing)
- Set short- and long-term goals for each process (Hoshin) to ensure compliance, control, cost reduction, and scrap/rework improvement
- Establish KPIs for process owners and track productivity and quality
- Define KOVs and KIVs and drive improvements to reduce scrap and rework
- Grow use of data science and AI for process control
- Act as overall authority for process control ensuring adherence to engineering requirements and AS9100/NADCAP
- Implement SPC and real-time monitoring for process stability
- Reduce scrap and rework through root-cause analysis and corrective actions
- Lead capex projects from concept through production release
- Lead process improvement projects (Scrap/Rework Reduction, Cost Reduction, Cycle Time Reduction) using Lean Six Sigma
- Support transition from traditional manufacturing to advanced methods
- Develop business continuity plans for plant equipment and process readiness
- Collaborate with BU Process Owners to share best practices across locations to maximize first-pass quality and output
- Customer liaison and cross-functional collaboration to align with technical requirements
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and cross-disciplinary collaboration
- Mentor junior and senior engineers; prepare others for success
- Communicate effectively, including difficult conversations, to set clear expectations
- Maintain focus on quantifiable business outcomes and quality
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (as stated)
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing
- 1+ year of leadership experience
- Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes (CNC machining, composites, special treatments)
- Strong understanding of AS9100 and NADCAP certification requirements
- Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with all levels of the organization
