Staff Structural Engineer - Lattice Tower (Houston, TX)

Overview

In this role you will support lattice tower projects at scale, applying structural analysis and detailed design to deliver production-ready drawings and models. You will work with cross-functional teams to develop estimates, schedules, and deliverables from concept to detailed design. The role focuses on accurate modeling, code-compliant design, and effective coordination through the project lifecycle. This is an opportunity to influence tower structures through advanced analysis and CAD/BIM workflows within a collaborative engineering environment.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in executing structural designs including PLS-Tower modeling, FEM modeling, analysis, reinforcement design, and retrofit work
  • Support development of man-hour estimates, schedules, and budgets for proposals and projects
  • Develop project deliverables from concept to detailed design and generate production drawings
  • Produce drawings and calculations for non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity
  • Perform design execution using prescribed methods, software, and CAD workflows; refine sketches for CAD development
  • Incorporate design codes and specifications; review designs for quality within scope, budget, and schedule
  • Organize revisions of 3D models, drawings, plot files, and project information
  • Participate in structural design Quality Review processes including back-checking and shop drawing reviews
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or related field from ABET-accredited program with 3 years of structural engineering experience, or Bachelor in Structural Engineering Technology with FE and 3 years of experience, or Master in Structural Engineering with 2 years of experience
  • Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong CAD/analysis tools experience
  • Experience with structural analysis programs (e.g., RISA-3D), AutoCAD, ETABS, SAFE, BIM tools (Revit, Tekla)
  • EIT certification preferred
