Overview

As a Transportation Project Manager, you will lead NC transportation projects within our Geomatics group, guiding scopes, budgets, and teams. You'll drive business development, craft project proposals, and serve as the primary client contact to secure work. You'll apply expert surveying knowledge, manage complex technical challenges, and ensure projects meet schedule, budget, and profitability targets. Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the North Carolina Department of Transportation and external engineering firms on multiple projects
  • Lead proposal development and act as lead presenter to secure new work
  • Develop detailed scopes, time estimates, and staffing requirements
  • Maintain and grow client relationships; serve as primary client contact
  • Negotiate contracts and handle controversial situations
  • Provide leadership to project teams and allocate resources effectively
  • Apply extensive land surveying knowledge in North Carolina and mentor staff
  • Manage project execution from kickoff to completion, including meetings, scheduling, budgeting, and accounts receivable
  • Contribute as an industry expert within the Geomatics unit and participate in professional development
Key requirements
  • North Carolina Survey License (PLS) required
  • 5-10+ years of NC transportation project management experience
  • NCDOT precertification in survey-related work categories
  • Strong understanding of Geomatics, leadership, team-building, and communication
  • MicroStation/Geopak/Open Roads experience
  • Knowledge of project finances, invoicing, and people management
  • Active involvement in professional organizations and networking
  • Residence in Raleigh or Wilmington area
  • Valid NC driver's license, clean driving record, background check, and drug test
