Overview As Senior Research Associate II, you support ECHO biospecimen processing and run complex experiments across multiple projects. You ensure sample integrity, follow protocols, and contribute to data collection and publications. You guide junior staff and align research activities with university standards and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities- Perform ECHO biospecimen processing including aliquoting, labeling, storage, and shipment preparation
- Maintain sample integrity, chain of custody, and accurate specimen tracking
- Conduct laboratory experiments across multiple projects using established protocols
- Prepare samples for downstream molecular and biochemical assays
- Document procedures accurately and execute protocols with consistency
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot lab equipment
- Maintain compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards
- Support inventory management for ECHO and non-ECHO lab activities
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and oversight to junior staff and students
- Lead coordination and oversight of research projects across sites
- Manage data collection, database design, and quality control
- Assist with study logistics, communications with stakeholders, and manuscript support
- Oversee training and standardization of study implementation across the team
Key requirements- Master's degree in a relevant field required
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on laboratory experience in a research setting
- Demonstrated experience with molecular and cellular lab techniques
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple technical workflows
- Familiarity with regulatory processes including IRB submissions and HIPAA guidelines
- Phlebotomy certification and training, or willingness to obtain
- Hands-on experience with multiple techniques listed in the qualifications (e.g., tissue culture, RT-qPCR, ELISA, Western blot, mass spectrometry sample prep)
