Overview As a Senior Electrical Engineer you will lead electrical design for building projects and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams. You'll model and specify power, lighting, and life-safety systems, and deliver documentation and construction support. The role combines technical leadership with client interaction to drive safe, compliant, and efficient electrical solutions. You will work within Stantec's Buildings team to advance sustainable design and project delivery at scale. Responsibilities- Lead technical design across multiple projects and report to Engineering Director
- Set and maintain design schedules and monitor progress
- Coordinate cross-discipline design activities
- Perform site surveys and assess electrical safety
- Produce electrical layouts, one-line diagrams, lighting, fire alarm plans, and construction specifications
- Provide construction administration and liaise with AHJ
- Specify electrical equipment (transformers, switchboards, panelboards, etc.)
- Model and analyze power distribution and life-safety systems with IEEE-compliant tools
- Design and model lighting systems and perform photometric studies
- Collaborate with Plumbing, Mechanical, Architectural, Structural, and Telecommunication/AV teams
- Mentor junior staff
Key requirements- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering concepts and practices
- Experience with commercial/industrial utility-scale power distribution design
- Experience in healthcare, data centers, or mission-critical facilities
- NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72 and ANSI/EIA/TIA standards familiarity
- US Professional Engineer license
- REVIT familiarity and BIM knowledge
- Modeling experience with SKM, ETAP, EZ-Power or similar IEEE tools
- Proven ability to interface with multiple clients and manage expectations
