Overview In this role you will provide and manage legal support for the company's investment activities, focusing on commercial mortgage lending. You will oversee closing processes, document drafting, and regulatory compliance to safeguard loan investments. You'll work with the Investment Department and may lead a legal support team, shaping policies to meet regulatory demands. Responsibilities- New Mortgage Loan Closings: draft, negotiate, and review loan commitments and security documents; assess title and due diligence; coordinate with outside counsel for closings
- Portfolio Maintenance: document changes to loans and collateral (releases, easements, modifications, assumptions)
- Serve as Legal Advisor: support decision-making, assist in policy development for regulatory compliance
- Manage and train legal support staff (secretaries, assistants, paralegals)
- Other duties as assigned by senior management
Key requirements- Attorney with 5+ years of negotiating and drafting experience equivalent to a partner at a major law firm
- Breadth of industry knowledge and business contacts in commercial real estate lending
- Strong negotiating skills and commitment to customer service and long-term relationships
