Sr. Capital Purchasing Manager - Indirect Purchasing

Overview

In this role you will manage strategic relationships with capital equipment suppliers and oversee sourcing, negotiations, and contracting for capital projects. You will partner with engineering, operations, and project teams to meet technical and commercial requirements, driving value and risk mitigation. You will lead competitive bidding, supplier selection, and contract administration across capital equipment, construction, and related services. This role offers influence over project delivery, supplier performance, and long-term cost optimization within PACCAR's capital investment program.

Responsibilities
  • Manage strategic relationships with capital equipment manufacturers, engineering firms, and construction service providers
  • Lead sourcing, negotiation, and contract administration for capital projects and infrastructure investments
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, facilities, and project management to meet technical and commercial requirements
  • Develop and execute bidding strategies, RFQs/RFPs, and supplier selection to maximize value and minimize risk
  • Negotiate and administer capital equipment purchase agreements and construction/engineering service contracts
  • Establish sourcing strategies to improve quality, reduce costs, and mitigate risk
  • Analyze industry trends and technologies to identify innovative solutions for operations and project economics
  • Conduct supplier site visits and monitor progress to ensure compliance and readiness
  • Manage contract changes, commercial claims, and supplier performance throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, safety standards, and procurement best practices
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant fields
  • 7+ years of purchasing, supply chain, or related experience
  • Experience with associated commodities
  • Supervisory/leadership experience
  • Proven negotiation and strong analytical skills
  • Project team participation or project management experience
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
