Overview As an Assistant Buyer/Planner you drive category performance by developing budgeted sales, margin and market share while optimizing assortments and vendor partnerships. You will shape corporate strategy for new releases, pricing, and selling programs, collaborating with planners and cross-functional teams to meet growth goals. This fast-paced retail role emphasizes data-informed decisions, plan-o-gram execution, and effective vendor negotiations to maximize sales and profitability.
Responsibilities- Develop and attain budgeted sales, gross margin, and market share for a single category
- Source and select new products and manage vendor relationships to optimize cost and performance
- Create and communicate business and sales plans, including pricing, advertising, and merchandising strategies
- Maintain ESP and collaborate with planners on financial plans and vendor strategies
- Contribute to floor planning, plan-o-gram processes, and category assortment decisions
- Review division sales, profit, and promotional performance and adjust plans accordingly
- Develop enterprise-wide selling programs and advertising campaigns to drive category growth
- Research and resolve store/division inquiries and maintain awareness of market trends and competition
Key requirements- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education/experience
- 2+ years of assistant buyer and/or assistant planner experience or relevant background
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Experience with single category and lower complexity in item difficulty, promotions, regional needs, and vendor management
- Highly motivated, self-directed, and able to work in a fast-paced retail office
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with high attention to detail
