Overview As Field Director of Medical Science Liaisons, you will lead and develop an MSL team within the East US region to advance medical strategy and improve patient outcomes. You will align field activities with Amgen's medical goals, coach vs performance, and ensure compliant execution of field plans. You'll collaborate with medical leadership to shape engagement with key clinicians and institutions, translating scientific insights into strategy. Responsibilities- Provide strategic direction and oversight to the MSL team aligned with corporate goals
- Coach and develop MSLs to enhance performance and engagement
- Foster a collaborative work environment and support growth, retention, and work-life balance
- Identify training needs and collaborate with training partners to build development plans
- Ensure compliance and timely completion of CRM, expense reports, and training modules
- Lead through change to accelerate MSL progression and achieve medical initiatives
- Develop Field Medical strategy, tactics, and SEP with medical leadership
- Elevate field insights to refine strategy and tactics
- Identify tools/resources to support SEPs and engage with leadership
- Oversee peer-to-peer scientific engagement with OLs, PHDMs, and IDNs
- Create engagement strategies at key accounts with internal stakeholders
- Guide MSLs in communicating clinical value and economic data to PHDMs in IDNs
- Support MSL goals and maintain focus on impactful tactics
- Ensure MSLs understand the healthcare ecosystem and Amgen's business landscape
- Represent MSL impact to senior leadership in cross-functional meetings
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to inform strategy with field observations
- Support congress activities and lead projects that back Field Medical strategies
- Promote a coordinated "One Amgen" experience between field medical and field commercial
Key requirements- Doctorate, or 4 years Medical Affairs experience with 4 years of managerial experience
- Or Master's with 8 years Medical Affairs experience and 4 years of managerial experience
- Or Bachelor's with 10 years Medical Affairs experience and 4 years of managerial experience
- Three years of managerial experience leading teams, programs or resource allocation
- Obesity and Related Conditions expertise
- Current experience in Scientific/Medical Affairs at a biotech/pharmaceutical company
- 3+ years in an MSL role in biotech/pharma
- Experience in clinical practice, clinical research or medical research
