Overview As Divisional Deputy City Solicitor, you will supervise CWU teams representing DHS in key Dependency Courtrooms. You will mentor attorneys, ensure timely, effective representation, and advise leadership on legal strategy and efficiency. You'll collaborate with DHS staff and clients, fostering an inclusive, professional environment. Responsibilities- Supervise two attorney teams in Dependency Courtrooms and other CWU court teams
- Mentor, train, and provide resources to direct reports and new hires
- Provide timely, effective representation when staffing or workflow challenges arise
- Advise Chief Deputy on legal matters impacting efficiency and policy
- Consult with DHS staff and social workers on complex cases and remedies
- Maintain open communication with CWU staff and address concerns
- Facilitate attorney training and mentoring opportunities
- Foster a collegial, inclusive, and professional work environment
- Engage in external efforts to raise the unit and department's profile
Key requirements- Seven+ years of legal experience in child welfare law and related courts (Dependency Court, Delinquency Court)
- Law degree from an ABA-accredited law school
- Member in good standing of the Pennsylvania Bar or eligible for reciprocity to practice in PA
- Previous supervisory experience in a legal setting
- Strong understanding of DHS policy and organizational structure
- Ability to work onsite five days a week in Philadelphia
- Excellent judgment, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with clients and colleagues
