Overview As a Principal Substation P&C Engineer, you will lead high-voltage substation protection and control design, guiding projects from concept to construction. You'll mentor junior engineers, coordinate with clients and cross-functional teams, and drive technically sound, code-compliant solutions that enhance reliability. Responsibilities- Design substation protection and control systems to applicable codes and client standards
- Develop protective relaying and control system designs for transmission and distribution substations
- Create equipment specifications, scope development, and cost estimates
- Produce conceptual protection and control designs for new and existing facilities
- Prepare documentation to aid procurement, construction, commissioning, and operation
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, vendors, and contractors
- Lead client meetings and site visits to collect data and present solutions
- Ensure QA/QC processes and perform technical reviews of engineering packages
- Mentor junior engineers and designers, reviewing calculations and drawings for quality and compliance
Key requirements- ABET-accredited Bachelor in Electrical Engineering
- 15+ years in Substation protection & control design engineering
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) License
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Strong document management, attention to detail, and time management
- Effective written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate with clients and stakeholders
