Overview In this role you represent indigent clients in judicial proceedings in North Dakota, including appeals at the state Supreme Court, with travel as needed. You work within a vertical representation structure across all stages of the process, gaining broad experience in defense work. You collaborate with a small, supportive team to deliver competent, ethical advocacy and contribute to ongoing education and training initiatives. Responsibilities- Represent clients in judicial proceedings in a competent, effective and ethical manner
- Provide representation for conflict cases in other jurisdictions as necessary with travel
- Stay current with statutory and decisional law in areas of practice
- Maintain license to practice law and obtain required CLE credits
- Assist with agency education and training programs and projects for public defenders and contract attorneys
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Commission
