Overview As Director of Data Center Construction, you will lead regional construction delivery across Switch data center projects, ensuring safety, schedule, budget, and quality targets are met. You'll steer construction managers, coordinate with program management, operations, and engineering, and manage external partners. You'll drive consistent execution and risk mitigation while developing leaders within the team. Responsibilities- Lead regional construction teams across multiple active data center projects
- Set priorities, resource plans, execution strategies, and delivery timelines
- Own regional performance across schedule, budget, safety, and quality
- Oversee construction plans, scopes, schedules, and delivery requirements
- Manage project budgets and adjust plans to meet financial targets
- Review and approve contracts and commercial commitments with contractors and vendors
- Ensure compliance with safety requirements, regulations, and Switch standards
- Establish and maintain quality control processes across projects
- Identify and mitigate construction, schedule, cost, and delivery risks early
- Resolve escalated issues affecting delivery, safety, quality, cost, or performance
- Collaborate with internal teams to maintain alignment throughout delivery
- Monitor contractor and vendor performance and address issues
- Communicate project status and decisions clearly to senior leadership
- Drive consistent construction processes and standards regionally
- Develop construction managers and project leaders through clear expectations and accountability
Key requirements- 5+ years of progressive construction leadership (e.g., Construction Director, Senior Project Manager)
- Experience delivering data center or mission-critical infrastructure projects
- Experience leading construction teams across multiple projects or locations
- Experience managing construction managers or project leaders
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, contracts, and vendor performance
- Experience delivering large-scale commercial or industrial construction projects
- Working knowledge of civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical construction disciplines
- Experience identifying and managing project risks and schedule impacts
- Strong understanding of construction safety, quality control, and delivery practices
- Ability to communicate effectively with field teams, partners, and executive leadership
