Overview In this role you lead and oversee facilities and office projects in the VADOC Western Region, acting as the owners' representative through design, construction and close-out for projects up to $5M. You will manage scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety and regulatory compliance, coordinating logistics to support field operations and align with the department's mission. This position interfaces with multiple agencies and external partners to ensure regulatory and statutory compliance, while delivering cost-efficient programs.
Responsibilities- Lead design and construction projects through all phases from inception to completion
- Manage project scope, schedule, and budget to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery
- Ensure quality assurance, safety and environmental compliance across projects
- Coordinate administrative and logistic support for assigned projects
- Act as owners' representative and liaise with external agencies and consultants
- Support cross-functional delivery of programs to enhance field operations
Key requirements- Thorough knowledge of construction project management processes
- Ability to manage and supervise multiple design and construction projects
- Strong communication with management, professionals, employees and external contractors
- Budget management across all project phases to prevent overspending
- Experience handling multiple design/construction projects concurrently
- Knowledge of codes, laws, and regulations governing construction and procurement in Virginia
- Ability to coordinate with State Fire Marshal, Division of Engineering and Building, Dept. of Historic Resources, DEQ, utilities, and other agencies to ensure compliance
