Overview Join a multidisciplinary Energy and Resources team as an Instrumentation & I&C/Industrial Automation Engineer. You will contribute to projects across mining, power, oil & gas, and renewables, helping design and implement automation and instrumentation systems. You'll work within a collaborative design team on North American projects, from early proposals to commissioning, with opportunities to lead in multi-sector assignments. This role supports the clean energy transition and decarbonization efforts. You will shape control architectures, integration, and field instrumentation to deliver safe, reliable operations.

Responsibilities- Provide engineering support across project phases from proposals to detailed design, construction, commissioning and start-up
- Occasional site work for investigations, scope validation, and commissioning support
- Lead I&C construction drawing deliverables (loops, I/O diagrams, wiring diagrams, instrument layouts, control panel drawings)
- Specify instrumentation datasheets, support procurement through evaluation and recommendations
- Design PLC/DCS/HMI/SCADA architectures, I/O configuration, redundancy, and third-party integration
- Integrate vendor-supplied equipment with on-board controls
- Design control/server rooms including network segregation, racks, power, cooling, and safety considerations
- Develop functional specifications, control logic, and interlock schemes; setpoints and calibration plans
- Perform calculations for I&C systems (UPS, load, bandwidth, voltages)
- Prepare technical specs for industrial networks; design fiber backbones and wireless coverage
- Assist with Construction Work Packages and provide construction phase support
- Coordinate deliverables, ensure quality, and engage with clients, vendors, and contractors
- Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and value engineering sessions
- Support quality control and design verification activities
Key requirements- Self-starter with ability to adapt to change and work with minimal supervision
- Strong written and verbal communication; effective interpersonal skills and teamwork
- Experience in mining projects is an asset
- Ability to produce accurate, well-organized work and perform self-checks
- Proficiency with MS Office; ability to learn software tools quickly
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, including remote team members via MS Teams
- Experience designing underground mines is a strong asset
- Willingness to travel 10% to client sites or other offices
- Bachelor's degree in engineering; PE license or ability to obtain
