Overview As Engineering Manager for Cloud FinOps, you lead a data-powered platform that allocates cloud cost to products and customers, ensuring reproducible cost lineage and accurate period recomputation. You'll shape contracts with Finance and platform teams, drive coverage onboarding, and align engineering delivery with business controls. This role blends deep technical ownership with cross-team collaboration to transform cost data into actionable margin insights. You'll build a scalable, auditable system that supports close and cost-to-revenue discussions while growing your team and domain impact.

Responsibilities- Lead and grow the engineering team building the cost-allocation platform and set cadence across runtime, release, coverage onboarding, and identity mapping
- Own the publication contract with Finance including versioned metrics, effective dates, backfill, and reproducible history for replay during close
- Own metric contracts with platform engineering teams to align cost facts with the teams generating them and curb linear headcount growth
- Partner with Revenue Engineering on cost-to-revenue identity to derive margin per product and per customer
- Drive continuous improvement in coverage and accuracy of cost data, and manage delivery commitments with non-reporting teams
- Reduce key-person risk by distributing ownership and leverage AI tooling (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) to accelerate output
Key requirements- Experience leading data platform or data engineering teams responsible for batch and pipeline systems with emphasis on correctness and reproducibility
- Shipped versioned publication with effective dates, backfill, and reproducible history
- Delivered contracts and met delivery commitments involving teams outside direct reporting line
- Domain experience in metering, usage-based billing, cloud cost, revenue data, or financial data platforms
- Ability to operate without a dedicated product manager for external aspects of the job, setting contracts, negotiating boundaries, and driving roadmaps
- Experience with systems whose outputs are audited/reported to Finance (SOX scope, month-end close, revenue recognition) and building retrieval-grounded systems with source citation
