Sourcing Manager, Power Plant Equipment (Starlink)

Overview

In this role you will own end-to-end sourcing for balance-of-plant equipment used in SpaceXAI power plants, supporting both permanent installations and mobile setups. You will partner with engineering and facilities teams to build commodity roadmaps, qualify suppliers, and secure reliable, cost-efficient delivery to meet build schedules. You will shape supplier ecosystems, manage risks, and drive value through strategic sourcing and cross-functional collaboration. This is a mission-driven, high-speed role with meaningful impact on space-enabled infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Define commodity strategy with power systems engineers and align multi-year roadmaps for BOP equipment
  • Source equipment for permanent and temporary/mobile power solutions (SCR, heat recovery, piping, electrical distribution)
  • Coordinate demand across SpaceXAI entities to align supplier roadmaps and secure supply
  • Own global sourcing including supplier qualification, multi-sourcing, and performance management
  • Negotiate agreements focusing on pricing, volumes, and reliable delivery; optimize for cost and lead times
  • Monitor supply risks and implement mitigation to protect schedules
  • Drive cost reduction via should-cost analysis, long-term agreements, and value engineering while upholding safety and quality
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships through reviews and joint projects
  • Track KPIs for cost, quality, delivery, and resilience; report progress to leadership
Key requirements
  • 3+ years in global supply chain, procurement, sourcing, or commodity management; or 5+ years in lieu of a degree
  • Experience in power systems, energy infrastructure procurement or industrial equipment
  • Technical understanding of power plant balance of plant equipment (transformers, switchgear, heat recovery, cooling, electrical distribution)
  • Experience sourcing for permanent plants and temporary/mobile power solutions
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally; on-site in Austin, TX
