Overview As Senior Underwriter for Builders Risk, you will grow and manage the US Construction book, with emphasis on Project and Master Builder Risk. You will cultivate broker and client relationships, evaluate opportunities, and apply disciplined underwriting to deliver profitable, high-quality business. You'll operate within AXIS governance, shaping solutions for complex construction risks and supporting long-term unit goals. Responsibilities- Establish themselves as a go-to expert for builder's risk with brokers and customers
- Assess opportunities against appetite and clearly communicate rationale
- Underwrite within the governance framework
- Negotiate pricing, terms, conditions, and participation on suitable risks
- Strengthen broker partnerships to support client retention
- Identify insurance needs with customers and brokers and propose solutions
- Proactively pursue new business opportunities
- Manage portfolio (new and renewal) to align with organizational goals
- Represent AXIS at industry events and maintain professional relationships
- Conduct partner or relationship meetings to identify improvements
- Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to meet client needs
- Mentor or support lower-level underwriters or assistants when asked
Key requirements- 3+ years of builder's risk underwriting with TIV > $200 million
- Proven track record of profitable results
- Deep knowledge of builder's risk coverage, pricing, and market dynamics
