Overview

In this role you will lead large-scale, technical projects in the food industry, guiding engineers and coordinating with vendors and plant teams. You will manage design, cost estimates, schedules, and compliance to standards while ensuring successful execution and documentation. This position offers hands-on leadership with opportunities to shape multi-disciplinary projects and implement practical solutions at scale. You will work across cross-functional teams to drive timely, on-budget delivery and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Develop engineering designs, material specs, and project cost estimates; perform feasibility studies and economic analyses
  • Ensure designs meet standards and validate field work; create as-built drawings
  • Review engineering submissions for accuracy and completeness
  • Direct vendors and contractors to execute projects
  • Coordinate project schedules with plant personnel, vendors, and contractors; collaborate with management and engineering teams
  • Plan layouts with vendors to meet utility requirements
  • Review consultant work and maintain documentation (manuals, drawings, specs, vendor contacts)
  • Conduct pre-project planning and reviews; define scope and evaluate proposals
  • Submit regular reports on project status; manage contract administration and bid packages
  • Prepare project documents (budgets, plans, schedules) and monitor installations to meet specs and budget
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field; 5+ years of relevant experience
  • 2+ years in a leadership role with team development and management
  • Strong engineering principles application to operations and design issues
  • Knowledge of installation and construction project scheduling
  • Project Management and Contract Administration skills; interpretation of national codes and standards
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and oral communication, planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability
  • Ability to travel up to 50% and work in fast-paced environments
  • Proven track record managing multi-million-dollar projects; experience in food processing/meat industry preferred
