Overview In this role you will advance earth systems science to support national resilience and security. You will work within MITRE's Earth Systems and Technologies team to analyze climate, weather, hydrology, and related data, guiding decisions for customers and partners. You will collaborate across disciplines to communicate uncertainties and impacts, shaping evidence-based recommendations. Responsibilities- Assess maturity and limitations of earth systems methods, models, and data in climate, weather, hydrology, and hazards contexts
- Evaluate trends, uncertainties, and operational constraints in customer environments using diverse data sources
- Identify integration and deployment challenges, including data quality and model uncertainty
- Frame and communicate earth systems risks and decision-relevant findings to stakeholders
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary experts to provide subject matter expertise and methodological guidance
- Analyze large observational, remote sensing, geospatial, and model datasets to support evidence-based recommendations
Key requirements- BS in a relevant discipline and 5 years of applicable experience
- Deep technical expertise in climate/weather analysis, hydrology, geospatial analysis, remote sensing, environmental resilience, or hazard modeling
- Strong critical thinking and self-guided problem-solving abilities
- Excellent technical writing and oral presentation skills
- Ability to develop new earth systems capabilities in collaboration with researchers
- Eligible for Secret U.S. Government clearance; must be a U.S. citizen; on-site presence minimum 3 days/week
