Overview In this role you help Penumbra optimize production and improve efficiency in a regulated medical-device environment. You will lead cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives and apply lean principles to reduce waste and space, while enhancing productivity and quality. You work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and R&D to plan, analyze, and implement improvements. This is a hands-on position on-site in Alameda, offering impact through scalable processes and a safety-conscious, QMS-driven culture.

Responsibilities- Identify opportunities and lead CI projects to optimize costs, manpower, equipment, space and investments
- Guide the team on lean concepts: flow, standard work, labor analysis, layouts, mistake-proofing, visual controls, and performance metrics
- Lead productivity gains, reduce lead times, and maximize space through Lean implementation
- Review schedules, specs, processes, and work instructions to understand manufacturing methods
- Drive Time Study and Value/Non-Value-Added analyses to improve workflow and space utilization
- Analyze base operations, quantify improvements, and develop prioritized action plans
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and R&D to identify improvement opportunities and workspace enhancements
- Develop detailed cross-functional work plans and strategies for projects
- Ensure facility efficiency and safety; adhere to QMS and regulatory requirements
- Promote compliance with security, privacy and applicable regulations across the department
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering with 4+ years in the medical device or related industry
- 4+ years of Continuous Improvement experience in a medical device context (preferred)
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and clean room practices
- Ability to design, analyze, and implement industrial engineering techniques
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; leadership capability desired
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, MS Project), AutoCAD, and SAP
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with ability to multitask
- Willingness to work on-site and travel 0-5% as needed
