Overview

In this role you will lead Expatriate Services engagements, advising on international assignment structuring and tax compliance, and reviewing expatriate U.S. tax returns. You'll drive business development, manage client relationships, and coordinate global teams to deliver high-quality service. You will shape tax strategies, assess risks, and implement compliant, cost-efficient actions. The position blends leadership, technical tax expertise, and client-facing impact within a collaborative, growth-focused firm.

Responsibilities
  • Advise on international assignment structuring and tax compliance options
  • Manage and develop long-term client relationships and service delivery expectations
  • Review and sign U.S. individual income tax returns for inbound/outbound assignees
  • Coordinate assignment cost projections, compensation balance sheets, and related agreements
  • Lead client communications and manage cross-functional project delivery
  • Identify tax issues, propose alternative actions to optimize tax burden and compliance
  • Ensure awareness and application of BDO Tax Quality Manual requirements
  • Oversee resource allocation and project/workflow management
  • Frame issues for research and coordinate collection of reliable information
  • Provide leadership on assigned projects, proposals, and client service matters
  • Attend industry networking events to support business development
  • Mentor Expatriate Services staff and provide performance feedback
  • Address routine questions from federal/state agencies and participate in professional development
Key requirements
  • More than eight (8) years of related work experience
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Licensed CPA, attorney or enrolled agent preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and tax research tools; experience with Go Systems preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to manage confidential information
  • Experience with international tax and HR management matters
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and multi-task effectively
  • Experience in client development and relationship retention
