Senior Quality Engineer - Camera Experience

Overview

As a Senior Quality Engineer at GM, you will own system-level validation for camera-based viewing features across bench and vehicle environments. You'll partner with cross-functional teams to define test strategy, drive defects to closure, and ensure release readiness for high quality viewing software. You will influence automation and CI/CD integration to improve efficiency and scalability, contributing to a mission of reliable, customer-focused vehicle vision experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute test plans, cases, and scripts for viewing software features
  • Design and maintain automated test scripts to boost coverage and repeatability
  • Conduct functional, regression, integration, and system testing on bench and vehicle
  • Debug system-level failures across hardware and software environments
  • Perform performance/load testing to identify bottlenecks
  • Log and track defects, work with developers to drive resolution
  • Collaborate with DevOps to integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines
  • Coordinate with product managers and engineers to clarify requirements and deliver quality software
Key requirements
  • Bachelor in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in software testing/quality roles
  • Hands-on experience testing development vehicles and test benches
  • Experience owning system-level test planning, execution, and release-readiness
  • Automation scripting experience and familiarity with a test framework (e.g., Autobot)
  • Experience with automated regression testing and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins)
  • Ability to troubleshoot across hardware, embedded software, vehicle signals, calibration, and test infrastructure
  • Experience with vehicle communication protocols (CAN, OBD-II, LIN, Ethernet)
  • Familiarity with Git, Jira/Xray, test traceability, and defect reporting
  • Ability to distinguish product defects from configuration/setup issues
  • Strong collaboration skills across software, hardware, calibration, HMI, and lab teams
