Senior System Performance Verification Engineer

Job description

Overview

In this role you will drive validation and optimization of PACCAR's engine aftertreatment and 48V systems, partnering with calibration, controls, electrical, mechanical, and vehicle teams. You'll develop tests across component to vehicle levels to ensure performance, durability, fuel economy, and emissions targets. You'll translate findings into actionable recommendations and help mature testing methods and processes. This is a hands-on, cross-functional position at the PACCAR Technical Center with impact on powertrain performance and emissions compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute validation plans across component, subsystem, powertrain, and vehicle levels
  • Define testing activities to support engine aftertreatment development in test cell environments
  • Collaborate with Engine Integration, OBD calibration, and Vehicle Integration teams for aftertreatment integration
  • Improve product quality, reliability, and durability through continuous process improvement
  • Stay informed about new aftertreatment technologies and testing methods
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations
  • Mentor and develop less experienced engineers
  • Maintain positive cross-group relationships at PACCAR Technical Center and divisions
Key requirements
  • 5+ years in automotive engineering
  • B.S. in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (MS preferred)
  • Strong understanding of internal combustion engine operation and powertrain systems
  • Knowledge of CAN and vehicle networks
  • Experience with OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, or powertrain development
  • Understanding of diesel emissions regulatory requirements and aftertreatment (DOC, DPF, SCR & DEF)
  • Knowledge of engine control strategies related to diesel aftertreatment
  • Scripting and data analysis experience desired
  • Experience with engine test cell/vehicle data collection, analysis, and test planning preferred
  • Proficiency with calibration and data-collection tools (ATI Vision/Vector Canape, Cummins Calterm/ETAS INCA & Vector CANalyzer)
  • Self-directed with strong communication and presentation skills
