Overview In this role you will lead design-heavy, customer-facing projects for sanitary cheese and liquid processing systems, from concept through commissioning. You will work closely with sales, automation, and field teams to deliver turnkey solutions that meet dairy customer requirements. The role emphasizes hands-on process design, validation, and startup support, with travel to client sites. Responsibilities- Audit existing process lines and translate requirements into conceptual designs for cheese and liquid systems
- Prepare mass/energy balances, heat transfer calculations, and equipment specs (pumps, valves, HXs, piping)
- Create complete P&IDs, PFDs, process descriptions, and project documentation
- Support proposals with technical input and equipment sizing
- Lead commissioning, startup, and performance verification at customer sites
- Collaborate with project engineers, automation, installation teams, and contractors
- Support regulatory documentation and testing (HTST, design specs, product quality safeguards)
- Troubleshoot process/equipment issues and perform root cause analysis
- Train operators, maintenance staff, and customer teams
Key requirements- BS in Chemical, Mechanical, Bio-Systems, or Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years in the sanitary dairy process industry
- Working knowledge of liquid process system design (mass/heat transfer, piping flow/pressure, pump/valve/line sizing)
- Familiarity with 3-A, ASME, FDA, USDA standards
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
