AWS Optics Support Engineer, AWS Optics Support Engineering

As an AWS Optics Support Engineer, you help protect AWS data centers by applying security best practices across logical and physical domains. You collaborate with security and service teams, drive incident response, and translate mitigations into actionable work items. You'll support critical security events in a 24/7 environment, focusing on risk assessment, root-cause analysis, and process improvements. • Drive security findings, research mitigations, and analyze vulnerability information to remediate root causes.
• Manage high-security events, communicate risks to AWS stakeholders, and escalate to drive mitigation.
• Assess security risks across the organization and escalate as needed.
• Create innovative solutions to security issues via technology or process improvements.
• Produce progress reports, briefs, and white papers on security concerns and operational improvements for AWS data centers.
• Consult with Amazon security and service teams to address security posture issues and coordinate stakeholders until ownership is clear.
• Interface with technical teams and leadership to translate mitigation plans into actionable items.
• Manage communications (email, phone, chat), generate and manage trouble tickets, and provide technical support including troubleshooting Windows/Linux systems and applications.

• 2+ years of software development, or 2+ years of technical support experience
• Experience scripting in modern programming languages
• Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
• Experience working nights, weekends, and extra hours as needed (on-call coverage)
• Preferred: knowledge of web services, distributed systems, and web application development
• Preferred: experience troubleshooting and maintaining hardware & software RAID
• Preferred: experience with REST web services, XML, JSON
