Overview As Process Engineering Leader at the Big Island containerboard mill, you will guide and develop the site process engineering team to improve mill performance and value. You will collaborate with Operations, Reliability, Maintenance, Process Control, Environmental, and Engineering to drive process optimization, trials, and capital-project execution. You establish priorities, build capability, and align resources with high-value opportunities. The role combines technical leadership with hands-on problem-solving to reduce variability and improve safety, reliability, and efficiency. This is a hands-on leadership role with opportunities to influence a large continuous-process operation.

Responsibilities- Lead, coach, and develop process engineers and interns; strengthen technical and leadership capability
- Prioritize work based on safety, environmental risk, reliability, quality, production, and value
- Partner with Operations and mill functions to identify opportunities, root-cause performance gaps, and implement improvements
- Reduce process variability through better operating strategies, equipment performance, controls, and standard work
- Lead or support process trials, grade development, equipment evaluations, and technology implementation
- Provide technical leadership for capital projects from opportunity development to startup and verification
- Manage small process-improvement projects with internal teams, partners, or corporate teams
- Develop and maintain process documentation, targets, calculations, standards, and lessons learned
- Support Management of Change and risk-management processes for modifications to mill systems
- Demonstrate visible safety and environmental leadership; participate in mill duty team with potential progression to Duty Team Leader
- Build strong cross-functional relationships across Operations, Reliability, Maintenance, Process Control, Environmental, Engineering, and corporate resources
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, paper science, chemistry, or related technical field
- Process engineering or manufacturing experience in a pulp and paper facility or other continuous-process industry
- Experience coaching, mentoring, supervising, or developing technical employees
- Experience identifying, analyzing, and resolving complex process or manufacturing problems
- Experience working cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, reliability, engineering, or technical teams
- Willingness and ability to participate in the mill duty rotation and provide off-hours support
