Senior Project Engineer

Overview

In this role you lead a small team on medium-to-large projects, or manage a critical portion of a complex initiative. You will work with senior leaders on challenging problems, ensuring precise, on-time project execution. You'll influence design, planning, and vendor coordination while upholding standards and codes. The role offers a chance to drive multi-million-dollar initiatives in a collaborative, boundary-spanning environment. This position suits a proactive engineer who shapes outcomes through practical engineering and cross-functional teamwork.

Responsibilities
  • Develop engineering designs, material specs, and cost estimates
  • Perform feasibility studies to support design choices
  • Ensure designs meet standards and codes; validate field work and as-built drawings
  • Review submissions for accuracy, coordinate with vendors/contractors/plant teams to stay on schedule
  • Direct vendors/contractors on layout and utility requirements
  • Review consultant work and maintain documentation (manuals, drawings, specs, contacts)
  • Plan pre-project activities, define scope, prepare proposals, and evaluate bids
  • Submit status reports, assist with contract administration, monitor installations for specs, budgets, and timelines
  • Manage project budgets to meet financial targets
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience or equivalent
  • Knowledge of engineering principles related to food processing and the meat industry (preferred)
  • Ability to apply engineering principles to operational and design issues
  • Knowledge of installation and construction project scheduling
  • Project Management and Contract Administration skills; interpretation of national codes and standards
  • Experience managing multi-million-dollar projects (desirable)
  • Proficiency in engineering economics
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Willingness to travel 50% for collaboration across locations
