Overview In this role you will advance optical microscopy and spectroscopy methods to study cellular metabolism in live systems, while enabling center users through training and instrumentation support. You will work within the Keck Center's vibrant, cross-disciplinary environment to develop imaging techniques, contribute to peer reviewed publications, and help scale metabolic imaging workflows. This position offers the chance to influence cutting-edge microscopy, from FLIM and FRET to in vivo two photon imaging, within a renowned research center.
Responsibilities- Develop and optimize new optical microscopy and spectroscopy methods for metabolic studies in live cells and animals
- administer and train users on wide-field, TIRF, confocal, multiphoton, two-photon in vivo imaging, FLIM and FRET systems
- contribute to software development and instrumentation projects (Java for ImageJ/Fiji, Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB)
- prepare and publish research articles on cellular metabolism and imaging techniques
- collaborate with multidisciplinary investigators and participate in cross functional teams
- participate in and support training activities, including hands-on workshops on FRET, FLIM and metabolic imaging
- maintain and troubleshoot microscopy infrastructure and data analysis pipelines
- potentially lead independent research initiatives aligned with center goals
Key requirements- Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Biophotonics, Engineering or a related discipline
- experience in design/development of optical instrumentation
- experience with FLIM and fluorescence microscopy-imaging systems
- software development skills (Java for ImageJ/Fiji, Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB)
