Overview In this role you design, analyze, and test electromechanical hardware for rugged military applications, translating requirements into mechanical solutions and leading reviews. You work closely with RF/Electrical, Test, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams on high-impact defense programs. You will develop packaging, fixtures, and verification plans, with hands-on prototype and qualification support to ensure producibility and reliability. Responsibilities- Design and document electromechanical hardware for rugged military use from proposal to production readiness
- Own mechanical architecture and detailed packaging (enclosures, frames, connectors, EMI, thermal paths)
- Translate system requirements into mechanical requirements and verification plans; lead design reviews and documentation releases
- Create complex fixtures for testing and advanced manufacturing; support qualification and verification tests
- Collaborate with RF/Electrical, Test, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams daily
- Support producibility improvements and ongoing engineering projects
- Provide hands-on prototype and qualification support, including failure analysis and corrective actions
- Design/analyze hardware for environmental and shock/vibration conditions; implement mitigations
Key requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Typically 5+ years in High Reliability, Aerospace, or Defense Electronics with hybrid RF/microwave experience
- Proficient with Solidworks 3D and AutoCAD 2D; GD&T and tolerance analysis
- Demonstrated PCB/PWB mechanical review influence for rugged platforms
- Strong problem-solving in fast-paced, team environments
- Experience with hermetic sealing, corrosion control, and process qualification analysis
- Familiarity with material control processes and documentation (routers, work instructions) and tools (Agile, Oracle, EPDM)
- Willingness to travel up to 10% for product and development support
- Ability to obtain future government security clearance (U.S. citizens)
