In this role you will serve as technical lead for hydrology, hydraulics, and drainage on multidisciplinary municipal projects across Southern California, contributing to resilient water infrastructure. You will collaborate with civil, coastal, environmental, and structural engineers to deliver permit-compliant solutions that support climate-adaptive communities. Responsibilities
  • Serve as technical/discipline lead for hydrologic, hydraulic, stormwater quality, and drainage design on multi-disciplined infrastructure projects in San Diego and Southern California
  • Develop scopes, budgets, schedules, and staffing plans for hydraulic and stormwater engineering tasks
  • Lead development of drainage studies, H&H reports, SWQMPs, water quality memos, flood studies, and resiliency assessments
  • Attend Project Management meetings to discuss resource needs, conflicts, and proposal activity
  • Provide QA/QC guidance on engineering design, calculations, design briefs and technical reports for municipal projects
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance to engineers and technical staff in delivering municipal water and wastewater projects
  • Mentor project engineers and designers in engineering and design skills
  • Build and maintain relationships with local agencies across Southern California (cities, counties, Caltrans, flood control, resource agencies)
  • Support proposals, client development, and strategic growth of the transportation and resiliency practice
Key requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, or similar)
  • Minimum 7 years of civil engineering experience focused on water and wastewater infrastructure
  • Proven experience in hydraulic analysis and stormwater management design
  • Experience developing project scope, schedule, and budget for hydraulic portions of projects
  • Strong technical writing and experience with drainage studies, hydraulic reports, and technical memoranda
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments; strong organizational, problem solving, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Experience with Civil 3D and hydraulic modeling software such as PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, FlowMaster, XP-SWMM, or equivalent
  • Experience leading a small team of engineers or technical staff
  • Experience with local municipal clients in San Diego and Southern California
  • CA Professional Engineer license preferred; if not held, to be achieved within 1 year of hire
  • Stormwater BMP evaluation, sizing, and design
