Human Resources Generalist, Manufacturing - Split Shift

Overview

In this on-site role, you'll support Lansing's manufacturing operations by delivering day-to-day HR services across two shifts. You'll work closely with plant leadership, supervisors, and employees to maintain a compliant, high-performing work environment. You'll handle employee relations, investigations, and coaching while contributing to workforce planning and engagement. This position offers visible impact in a fast-paced plant setting, with opportunities to influence policy interpretation and people-focused outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a trusted HR resource for manufacturing employees, supervisors, and leaders across first and second shifts
  • Partner with plant leadership on employee relations, performance management, attendance, staffing, engagement, and workforce planning
  • Conduct and support workplace investigations, document findings, and recommend next steps
  • Coach supervisors on performance conversations, corrective action, policy interpretation, and conflict resolution
  • Maintain HR records and support compliance with policies and laws
  • Support onboarding, communications, retention, training, and engagement activities
  • Assist with labor relations matters, grievance processes, and union-related interpretation where applicable
  • Review workforce data and trends to identify improvement opportunities
  • Collaborate with HR peers and cross-functional teams to foster a safe, productive, and inclusive workplace
Key requirements
  • 3-5+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally in manufacturing or operational environments
  • Strong employee relations and performance management experience
  • Experience conducting investigations and coaching frontline leaders
  • Familiarity with employment law, HR compliance, and best practices
  • Labor relations or union environment experience is preferred
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, judgment, and relationship-building skills
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally
