Overview As a Construction Manager II at HDR, you lead field-based construction activities to ensure design intent is realized with quality, safety, and efficiency. You work within HDR's Field Services culture to coordinate subcontractors, manage schedules and budgets, and apply constructability and value engineering practices. You'll collaborate with Owners, Engineers, Contractors, and teammates to deliver resilient infrastructure on highways, bridges, water and energy facilities. This is a hands-on leadership role with a strong commitment to HDR's employee-owned, inclusive culture.
Responsibilities- Coordinate subcontractor activities, scheduling and quality control
- Develop and implement the Project Management Plan / Construction Management Plan
- Create procedures for contract administration (document, change, time, cost, quality, safety) and align with project team
- Execute CM activities including procurement, schedule development, subcontract scoping, terms review, constructability and value engineering reviews, and progress presentations
- Administer and manage construction activities and monitor design progress relative to construction needs
- Perform value engineering and constructability reviews
- Coordinate local bidding for quotes
- Assist in procurement of purchase orders and subcontract packages
- Coordinate document management and submittals (shop drawings, pay apps)
- Prepare, issue, and negotiate Change Orders
- Review construction schedules (baseline and updates) and manage budget and schedule
- Coordinate quality assurance/quality control and inspection services
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with Health and Safety programs
- Prepare and update progress reports, pay requests, and schedule/budget reports
- Coordinate project setup and temporary facilities
- Perform other duties as needed
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Construction Science or closely related field or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in construction planning and management (contracts, document/time/cost/quality management, change management, site safety, bidding, subcontracts, scheduling, cost control)
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Experience with construction management software (Procore, Prolog, Primavera, Bluebeam, etc.)
- Strong people skills and ability to interact with Owner, Engineer, Contractor and other stakeholders
