Overview

As a Resident Engineer at CKL Engineers, you lead infrastructure construction teams to deliver high-quality projects in Chicago. You will guide field operations, ensure contractor performance, and drive project milestones while coordinating with clients and stakeholders. You'll shape project outcomes through rigorous oversight, documentation, and mentorship. Responsibilities
  • Drive project success by ensuring deliverables meet requirements and deadlines, maintaining quality throughout the lifecycle, and monitoring contractor compliance with approved plans
  • Conduct field testing, observe on-site commissioning, prepare inspection reports, and manage quantity logs; respond to RFIs and create punch lists at project closeout
  • Oversee contract administration including pay requisitions, change orders, communications, and review of shop drawings, payroll certifications, and labor reports
  • Review and align plans with project requirements; evaluate Baseline and updated schedules in collaboration with client expectations; communicate issues
  • Provide team leadership and mentorship; chair site meetings with contractors, clients, and stakeholders
  • Maintain client satisfaction through effective communication; coordinate directly with client representatives; provide regular status reports
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • 8-12 years of related construction experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Illinois Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
  • OSHA 10 hr certification or ability to obtain
  • Excellent English language skills, written and verbal
