Overview As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you lead mechanical design across municipal infrastructure, water and wastewater, and facility systems to move projects from planning through construction. You will steer multidisciplinary design, coordinate interfaces, and mentor engineers and designers, delivering technically sound solutions with limited supervision. You contribute to proposals, client discussions, and field support, shaping modernization and rehabilitation efforts. This is a hands-on leadership role in a collaborative, client-focused firm that tackles diverse facilities and systems.
Responsibilities- Lead mechanical design and specification of systems and equipment.
- Manage mechanical scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables on projects.
- Coordinate interfaces with other disciplines and review supplier submittals.
- Support procurement, installation, startup, and commissioning activities.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineers and designers.
- Participate in client meetings, proposals, and project pursuits.
- Perform field investigations and assess existing facilities for modifications.
- Contribute to QA/QC and department standards across projects.
Key requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 6+ years of progressive mechanical engineering experience
- Ability to independently execute design assignments
- Experience leading mechanical scopes on multidisciplinary projects
- Experience progressing projects from planning through construction
- Willingness to travel to client and project sites
