Overview In this role you will install, assemble and repair underground pipes and fittings for water, sewer, and drainage projects. You'll support heavy equipment operators, ensure accurate pipe placement, and verify system integrity. The position sits in Garney's field operations, focusing on safe, precise pipe work and coordination with crews. You'll work on-site across trenching, backfilling and testing to deliver reliable infrastructure. Responsibilities- Prepare work area by directing trenching and grading
- Support labor tasks as needed
- Assist equipment operators in pipe placement
- Direct equipment operators with hand signals
- Backfill around pipe using hand tools
- Set up and operate pipe lasers and transits
- Locate and mark pipe/fittings positions in trenches
- Assemble and install metal, PVC, ductile and concrete pipe and valves
- Join pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and solvent cement
- Test pipes for leaks, measure and cut pipe
Key requirements- Two years of experience installing large diameter pipes for water, sewer, storm drain
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
- Must be able to stand for long periods and perform tasks
- Willingness to complete Garney certifications (Rigging and Signaling, Confined Space, OSHA 10)
- Willingness to work overtime
