Overview

In this role you will drive substation design and project execution within a collaborative design team. You will interface with clients and internal teams to meet scope, schedule, and budget while upholding quality and safety standards. The position blends design, analysis, and construction support to deliver reliable power delivery projects. This remote opportunity offers development through mentoring, training, and certifications, with occasional site visits and travel.

Responsibilities
  • Execute substation physical and protection & control (P&C) design projects
  • Perform quality control checks on substation designs
  • Read and create substation drawings (one-line, three-line, schematics, wiring, plan-section, conduit, grounding)
  • Create and verify bill of materials (BOM) for substation projects
  • Create and verify estimates and project schedules
  • Support full project lifecycle from scoping to final design and implementation
  • Work with client standards to implement design
  • Collaborate with designers/drafters to generate required drawings
  • Provide construction support and occasional site visits
  • Ensure adherence to project scope, schedule, and budget and maintain safe work practices
Key requirements
  • Bachelor in Electrical Engineering
  • 4+ years of related substation design experience
  • Excellent communication skills for client and internal interactions
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Collaborator and leader with strong teamwork
  • Self-starter with independence
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Preferred: Engineer Intern (EI/EIT) certificate, PE License
  • Experience with protection and control design, bus calculation, relay settings
  • Experience with grounding studies/lightning protection and lighting studies
  • Experience with AC/DC calculations
  • Experience with WinIGS or CDEGS
  • Experience with CAD tools
