Overview In this role you provide financial guidance across the project lifecycle, focusing on budgets, profitability, cash flow, and contract compliance. You act as the primary financial advisor for project teams, aligning work plans with client and contract requirements. You may oversee and mentor staff, serving as a subject matter expert on complex projects. You help drive GAAP-based earnings reviews and revenue recognition to support project success and organizational goals.
Responsibilities- Lead financial activities across the project lifecycle and provide revenue and cash performance recommendations
- Model gross margin scenarios from engagement through negotiations and advise on cost management
- Review client contracts to optimize payment terms and revenue opportunities
- Ensure PM system accuracy for budgets, forecasts, and expenditures; align with client requirements
- Oversee invoice approvals, payment applications, and subcontracting needs
- Collaborate with project manager and cash team to resolve billing/revenue discrepancies
- Generate and analyze reports to identify cost issues and overruns
- Forecast and monitor EAC; manage changes to cost accounts and change orders
- Lead earnings review processes using GAAP and revenue recognition concepts
- Communicate project performance to office management; mentor staff and provide training
- Support staff recruitment, development, performance reviews, and succession planning
- Coordinate schedules and approve timecards; assist in setting objectives and giving feedback
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree and 7 years of financial/project accounting/analysis experience
- 1 year of people management, leadership or mentoring experience
- In lieu of education, 11 years of financial/project accounting/analysis experience
