Hardware Program Quality Engineer - onsite in MA

Overview

In this role you will support the Upper Tier Missile Defense portfolio by identifying and mitigating early quality issues in hardware design and development. You will collaborate across Engineering, Operations and Supply Chain to implement robust quality strategies and drive improvements throughout the product lifecycle. The role blends hands-on technical work with cross-functional coordination to ensure reliability, compliance, and readiness of complex defense hardware. You'll contribute to mission-critical programs and work onsite at multiple MA Raytheon facilities, with occasional travel.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with Engineering, Program Leaders, IPTs and Functions to implement Quality strategies
  • Evaluate designs, specifications, testing plans, and equipment for reliability and quality compliance
  • Conduct engineering reviews (Peer, Drawing, Design, Readiness) to identify and mitigate defects
  • Serve as Engineering Hardware Quality Representative on ERB, CCB, ROMB, MRB boards
  • Assess design/manufacturing trade-offs to identify risks and opportunities
  • Perform process walks and use data to drive measurable quality improvements
  • Support RCA and closed-loop corrective actions to enhance quality and reliability
  • Travel 3-4 weeks per year to Raytheon facilities or supplier locations
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM
  • Five years of relevant hardware quality or hardware design experience
  • Experience with hardware drawings, specifications and verification methods
  • Experience with common product data management systems (e.g., SOLIDWORKS PDM, Autodesk Vault, PTC Windchill PDM, Aras Innovator)
  • Experience analyzing data, metrics, and driving process improvements
  • Experience RCA and corrective/preventive actions
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration
  • Clear technical communication
  • Professional judgment in decision-making
  • APQP and AS9145
  • ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 Quality Management Systems
  • RCA and corrective action methodologies
