Overview

In this role, you drive innovation and manufacturing of advanced ceramic materials and components for electronics used in commercial and aerospace/defense applications. You lead new product introduction, process development, and continuous improvement, ensuring quality, reliability, and regulatory compliance. You collaborate across engineering, quality, and operations to deliver best-in-class components and optimize materials and processes. The position offers hands-on leadership in a mission-focused, high tech manufacturing setting with cross functional impact.

Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee design, development, and support of electrical ceramic devices across engineering projects
  • Lead formulation and processing of ceramic materials and metal systems for high-reliability components
  • Advance ceramic manufacturing processes and equipment (powder processing, forming, sintering, coating, finishing)
  • Coordinate with design teams to align material properties with product performance requirements
  • Drive value engineering and quality improvement through RCCA methodologies to boost throughput, yield, and reliability
  • Support certification, qualification, and customer audits for aerospace/defense programs
  • Create and maintain technical documentation (specifications, process instructions, validation reports)
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering for manufacturability and compliance
  • Monitor product quality against standards and adjust designs/processes to meet cost, schedule, and performance targets
  • Assess and approve new materials, designs, and equipment
  • Provide technical support during customer reviews, audits, and program milestones
  • Mentor and develop engineering personnel in ceramic design and process best practices
  • Stay current with advancements in ceramic materials and electronic component technology
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Ceramics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related field (Master's desired)
  • 5+ years of ceramics engineering experience with focus on electronic components, aerospace, or defense
  • Strong background in ceramic chemistry, powder processing, and high-temperature sintering
  • Experience with RCCA, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Familiarity with aerospace & defense quality systems, standards, and certification requirements (AS9100, MIL-SPEC)
  • Proven track record of process development, scale-up, and qualification in manufacturing environment
