Fuel Handling Engineering Manager

Overview

As Fuel Handling Engineering Manager, you will lead and grow a multidisciplinary team responsible for advanced nuclear fuel handling systems and plant cranes. Based in Shoreview, MN with hybrid in-office presence, you will drive modernization of processes and tools, and mentor a diverse group of engineers. Your leadership will enable global collaboration and shape the future of clean energy through improved design quality and efficiency. This role offers hands-on change leadership with meaningful impact on safety, quality, and sustainability.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a 45+ person team of engineers and designers across multiple disciplines
  • Manage two supervisors with 15-20 direct reports each
  • Oversee performance feedback and one-on-one development meetings
  • Guide hiring, onboarding, and talent development to preserve critical skills
  • Support technical leadership reviews, promotions, and career progression
  • Develop and execute resource, technical, and budget strategies
  • Drive process improvement and modernization to reduce cycle times and improve quality
  • Ensure compliance with nuclear quality standards, safety requirements, and contractual obligations
  • Lead digital tool adoption, model-based design, and simulation-driven workflows
  • Foster cross-disciplinary collaboration and internal partnerships to balance demand and supply
  • Provide project updates to senior management and customers
  • Limited travel within North America for coordination and team integration
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (I&C strongly preferred)
  • PE license a plus
  • 8+ years of engineering experience with leadership roles
  • Experience leading organizational change and fostering collaboration
  • Experience with QA programs and manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with modeling tools (ANSYS, Inventor, SolidWorks) and data management systems (PDM/PLM)
