Overview

As Lead Professional, Electrical Engineering, you will support the Power & Energy team in delivering electrical infrastructure projects from concept through construction. You'll guide design, compliance, and risk management for utilities, industrial, and commercial-scale initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet client objectives. You'll apply advanced electrical engineering techniques to substation, transmission, and distribution work while ensuring safety and quality standards. This role offers influence over project direction, technical decisions, and client outcomes within a world class energy services firm.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and approve electrical infrastructure design plans for small to mid-size projects, ensuring code and regulation compliance
  • Apply advanced electrical engineering methods across project phases: concept, design, procurement, construction, operation
  • Develop and review plans, specifications, and cost estimates; prepare phasing and safety plans
  • Lead design reviews of single-line and three-phase drawings, grounding, protection, and substation layouts
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations
  • Manage cross-functional teams, budgets, hours, and contractor coordination on multiple concurrent projects
  • Ensure field investigations and data analysis inform risk mitigation and action plans
  • Maintain QA/QC standards and adherence to WSP's safety policies
  • Interact with regulatory agencies, clients, and subcontractors to support project approvals
  • Stay current with electrical engineering practices and tools; contribute to business development and proposals
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 7 to 10 years of post-education experience in power generation, transmission, and distribution design
  • Engineering license required
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure design and related codes/regulations
  • Proficiency in electrical calculations, plans and specifications interpretation
  • Experience with design software (CADD, Aspen, CAPE, ETAP, WIN IGS, Inventor, AutoCADD electrical)
  • Ability to lead mid-level and multiple projects with QA/QC discipline
  • Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills
  • Willingness to travel as project demands require
