Resident Project Representative

Job description

Overview

In this role you help deliver transportation infrastructure by interpreting drawings, tracking progress, and ensuring quality on site. As part of HDR's Transportation group, you work closely with engineers, inspectors, and clients to keep projects on schedule and compliant. You'll create accurate records, prepare pay estimates, and help close out projects. You contribute to a collaborative, employee-owned culture that aims to improve communities and public safety.

Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, identifying discrepancies or conflicts
  • Maintain daily records of contractor activities, labor, equipment and materials used
  • Review construction materials for contract compliance
  • Track quantities and develop pay estimates for acceptance
  • Attend and/or chair construction progress meetings
  • Observe installation and testing of completed equipment and systems
  • Identify nonconforming work, develop punchlists, and follow through to correction
  • Develop record documentation for engineer review/acceptance
  • Assist with project audit/closeout
  • Supervise junior Resident Project Representatives and Construction Inspectors, testing services and subconsultants
Key requirements
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred)
  • Previous construction experience with a consulting firm
  • Ability to interpret construction schedules
  • Ability to problem solve and provide solutions to the engineer
  • Local candidates preferred
  • Preemployment drug test
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or combination of education and relevant experience
  • Demonstrated construction experience on multidisciplinary projects
  • Fundamental understanding of contracts and familiarity with codes and laws governing construction
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within documents
  • Team-oriented and computer literate (Microsoft Office, Primavera, or related construction packages)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Active participation in employee-owned culture commitment
  • Sponsorship (visa) for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position
