Overview

As part of Latham's Office of the General Counsel, you will review and negotiate vendor contracts to protect the firm's interests and ensure compliance with policies and privacy/security standards. You'll liaise with stakeholders to shape negotiation strategy and improve the contract review process. The role emphasizes risk management, cross-functional collaboration, and maintaining high standards for sensitive information. This is a chance to influence how the firm handles external relationships and contract governance at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Review, revise, negotiate, and execute vendor contracts in a timely manner
  • Consult with vendor relationship owners and stakeholders to set negotiation strategy; negotiate directly when appropriate
  • Participate in training and outreach to introduce the contract review process
  • Build and maintain productive relationships across staff, managers, and senior leaders to optimize contract reviews
  • Collaborate with the OGC on risk management projects
  • Protect highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and proprietary information
Key requirements
  • Advanced knowledge and skill in contract drafting and negotiation
  • Ability to manage large, long-term projects and develop alternative methods to complete them
  • Ability to establish and implement consistent procedures and high attention to detail
  • J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active bar membership in California, Illinois, New York, or Washington, D.C., or ability to apply within 90 days and become active within 1 year
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience practicing law including contract drafting and negotiation
  • Experience utilizing a contract lifecycle management platform
  • Previous in-house experience (preferred)
