Overview In this role you partner with plant operations to lead Employee and Labor Relations, ensuring a safe, motivated workplace while guiding management development to meet short- and long-term goals. You will oversee HR services across recruiting, performance management, compliance, training, and benefits to support plant performance. You act as the main HR contact for recruitment, benefits, payroll, and employee relations, coaching leaders and resolving issues proactively. Your work shapes people strategies that sustain operations and drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities- Serve as onsite HR leader and primary contact for recruitment, benefits, payroll, and employee relations issues at the facility
- Lead and participate in HR initiatives: staffing, performance management, organization planning, compensation planning, employee development
- Coach business leaders on managing teams and aligning with priorities
- Resolve employee relations issues and coach managers through processes
- Advise employees on work-related issues and resolve concerns proactively
- Interpret and implement HR policies on vacation, parental leave, etc.
- Manage staffing with hiring managers and talent acquisition to build diverse, top-quality candidate slates
- Collaborate with legal and labor relations on performance initiatives
Key requirements- Minimum 6 years of HR management experience
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience
- Bachelor's degree in HR or business-related field (preferred)
- Experience in a union environment with collective bargaining agreement
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP (strong plus)
- Proven in employee communications and engagement initiatives
- Experience leading manufacturing facility recruiting for hourly and management roles
- Proficient interviewing techniques (structured, behavioral)
- Experience with various selection processes (video, phone, reference checks)
- Familiarity with HR databases, ATS/CMS (e.g., LAWSON, Kronos, Workday)
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Strategic thinker with continuous improvement mindset
