Overview

As an Electrical Design Engineer at Brown and Caldwell, you will design and upgrade electrical power distribution systems for industrial and municipal settings, including MV/LV equipment and motor control systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to model power systems, develop concept designs, and produce 2D/3D contract drawings. The role offers remote work with occasional travel to South Florida and opportunities to mentor junior staff and lead project execution. You will contribute to meaningful projects that protect resources and support client facilities. This position combines technical depth with leadership in a growth oriented, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
  • Design low-, and medium-voltage power distribution systems (up to 15 kV) including switchgear, MCCs, distribution panels, and transformers
  • Oversee conduit, duct bank, and cable tray design
  • Coordinate lighting system design and integration with civil, structural, and mechanical disciplines
  • Prepare construction specifications and provide field support during construction, including RFIs and submittal reviews
  • Perform short-circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash studies
  • Plan and track electrical scope, schedule, and budget at the project level
  • Mentor junior/midlevel electrical and I&C staff
  • Engage with clients and participate in new business development
  • Develop contract drawings using 2D/3D methods and support bid package preparation
  • Conduct field investigations and provide engineering services during construction
  • Carry out design and coordination across electrical power distribution, motor control, and lighting systems
Key requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of related Electrical Engineering experience (8+ preferred)
  • Professional licensure in progress or achieved
  • Experience as Engineer of Record (3+ years preferred)
  • Bachelor in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Expertise in electrical power distribution and motor control systems
  • Proficiency in conduit/duct bank/cable tray design
  • Ability to coordinate with civil, structural, and mechanical disciplines
  • Strong project planning, budgeting, and scheduling capabilities
